Intraductal pneumatic lithotripsy for salivary stones with the StoneBreaker: Preliminary experience.

چکیده
OBJECTIVES/HYPOTHESIS To test the effectiveness of a newly approved pneumatic lithotripter for fragmentation of salivary stones. STUDY DESIGN Retrospective study in a tertiary referral center. METHODS In 44 patients, 49 stones were primarily treated with direct endoscopic guidance using the StoneBreaker. Twenty-three stones were located in the parotid gland and 26 in the submandibular gland. RESULTS Complete fragmentation was achieved combined extracorporeal in 97.7% of the stones. All of the patients became symptom free, and 97.7% were stone free. Three patients underwent lithotripsy procedures. Altogether additional treatment was necessary in five cases to achieve stone clearance. The reason for residual sialolithiasis was intraparenchymal repulsion of a residual fragment (n = 1). The glands were preserved in all cases. CONCLUSIONS Endoscopically guided intraductal pneumatic lithotripsy using the StoneBreaker is an effective and promising procedure for the treatment of sialolithiasis. Initial clinical evaluation of a new pneumatic intracorporeal lithotripter.
OBJECTIVE To test the clinical efficacy of the StoneBreaker (LMA Urology, Gland, Switzerland), a novel device which is much more compact and ergonomic than other current intracorporeal pneumatic lithotripters, and more powerful, generating contact pressures of up to 2.9 MPa, thereby enabling better pneumatic fragmentation and removal of stones during percutaneous nephrostolithotomy (PCNL), uret...
متن کاملSalivary Stone Pneumatic Lithotripsy in a Live Porcine Model.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the efficacy of endoscopic fragmentation and removal of artificial calculi in a live porcine model employing intracorporeal pneumatic lithotripsy. In this experimental study, 7 submandibular ducts were accessed and artificial calculi placed. A salivary pneumatic lithotripter probe was inserted through an interventional sialendoscope to fragment the calcu...
متن کاملSalivary lithotripsy in the era of sialendoscopy
The traditional management of obstructive salivary disorders has been replaced by minimally-invasive gland-preserving techniques including shock-wave lithotripsy, sialendoscopy, interventional radiology and endoscopically video-assisted trans-oral and cervical stone retrieval, of which sialendoscopy is considered to be the method of first choice. Primary endoscopically controlled stone extracti...

Objective: To assess the efficacy and safety of extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy or pneumatic ureteroscopic lithotripsy for lower ureteral stones therapy, we sought to identify and summarize randomized controlled trials that were used to treat distal ureteral stone. Methods: Eligible studies were identified from electronic databases. Database search, quality assessment, and data extraction...
متن کاملExperience with impacted upper ureteral Stones; should we abandon using semirigid ureteroscopes and pneumatic lithoclast?
INTRODUCTION The AUA/EAU Ureteral Stones Guideline Panel reported that the stone free rate for the proximal ureteral stones is around 81% when treated by either SWL or ureteroscopy (URS).Complication rates, most notably ureteral perforation and long-term complications of URS such as stricture formation rates, have been reduced to < 5%. Moreover, impacted ureteral calculi are more difficult to f...
